Hoplinks - Canned Goods

From the north side of Chicago, down south to Kansas City, and west bound to the Pacific, there's a lot to read up on this week in the world of craft beer.

In this week's Hoplinks, a beer-centric bar opens, the windy city likes drinking, a brewery gets sold, and cans are taking over the world. Read all about it below and let us know what other noteworthy things are happening in the industry.

GOLD COAST, CHICAGO - Hopsmith Tavern, the latest addition to the Big Onion Tavern Group (Fatpour, Diag, Derby, etc), opened this week in the Gold Coast. The kangaroo/hop themed bar (get it?) features an extensive beer list.

CHICAGO - Alcohol delivery service Drizly unveiled their most popular booze orders in Chicago from 2014. Though the list is largely marco-centric, craft favourites Lagunitas, Goose Island, and Dogfish Head make the list.

SEATTLE, WA - Elysian Brewing Co. announced they have been acquired by Anheuser-Busch. The deal includes the brewery and the four Seattle area brewpubs.

KANSAS CITY, MO - Boulevard Brewing Co. released plans for their new lineup of 12 ounce cans, due out sometime this year. They also revealed plans for the new Heavy Lifting IPA which will premier to in canned form.

GLOBAL - Speaking of cans, the humble beer can turns 80 today! An interesting read on the history of the packaging that's becoming a craft industry standard.
