Timed with their 10th anniversary in 2018, Devils Backbone Brewing Co. is modernizing its brand with all new packaging, meant to “exemplify its friendly, approachable, and outdoor personality and ‘Slow by Nature’ messaging.” To achieve this, the brewery enlisted quite the creative team, including two different award-winning illustrators, as they set to make a big push in 2019…
To close out 2018, we tasted through the following 21 beers for December. This month, stouts ran the show, fruit additions were prominent, IPAs were few, and we even got some beers from both north and south of the border. Enjoy!
DETOUR No. 036: In a nearby Northwest Chicago suburb, you’ll find an unassuming strip mall. In that strip mall, sandwiched between a dollar store and a Korean restaurant, sits one of the Midwest’s best sour breweries whose side label is also brewing some of the most under the radar stouts and IPAs in the area. FoBAB 2018 showcased 400 beers, from 213 different breweries, in 12 different categories. Enough to please virtually any beer nerd's palate. And trust us, there were plenty present–clamoring for it all. We picked our favorites from the weekend, as well as the list of medal winners in each category.
