Beer & Branding: Temperance Beer Company
Temperance Beer Company is Evanston's first brewery since Prohibition. With such a historic revival, there comes a lot of pressure to deliver not just great beer to the North Shore city, but also a great brand. Temperance has done just that, creating a strong, identifiable brand while still managing to keep a playful and approachable tone.
And that approach has certainly not gone unnoticed. Since founding in 2013, Temperance has built an impressive taproom and beer garden, won silver at GABF, quickly moved into canned beer, and has sizably upped production. None of these tasks a small feat, of course. All of this behind the vision of founder Josh Gilbert and graphic design expertise of Tampa's Arcade Box Creative. Josh gave us a little insight into his thoughts on the importance of a strong brand:
"As an architect, design has always been an integral part of Temperance, both in the brewery and our branding. Like our beers, our design aims for a balanced eclecticism that resonates with those who encounter it."
We couldn't agree with that sentiment any more. And we can't wait to see which beers get the can treatment next...
